About Me
My Hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and Righteousness!
My name is Hosanna and I live in rural Virginia, right on the North Carolina border.
My family and I have been horse owners since 1986, when my brother got us all involved through a 4-H program. We currently own 11 horses that live on two farms.
I personally have been riding seriously since I was 12. I took lessons in the Hunter-Jumper discipline and showed throughout my teen years and early twenties. When I was about 14 I had my first experience with OTTBs, as I rode two for lessons and shows. I was instantly in love with them.
My husband, Kevin's background is in draft horses and driving teams of horses; as well as endurance riding and timed trail riding events.
I started giving lessons in 1999 and in 2001 became certified with CHA (Certified Horsemanship Association) to teach English and Western riding. During this time I also did some breaking and training, schooling people's green horses; and I raised and trained a number of foals. I was also hauling my horses and students around to shows during the summer months.
I continued to run a lesson program and manage two horse farms until 2009, when the local economy tanked and I lost so many students I closed my program and gave up instructing.
That same summer my husband and I adopted our first Off The Track Thoroughbred from Pennsylvania and we were instantly smitten with the horse. The first one has been followed by 8 others. We currently have five OTTBs on our farm.
In addition to hunter jumper riding and showing I have dabbled in dressage, Plantation Tennessee Walking Horses, western riding, and Natural Horsemanship training clinics. I like to try everything there is to do with horses and riding!!
This blog is a journal of my learning experiences with these amazing and wonderful horses!
